The History Behind Isos Technology and our Atlassian Journey

Ahoy, mates! It’s your sporadic but emphatic blog writer, Lia Wood!

Whenever I am going to sit down and write out a blog post, I try to make sure I am delivering a message, story, or Atlassian advice that our audience will appreciate and absorb. When speaking to potential customers recently, I realized that our Atlassian story is pretty unique and speaks to our expertise within the Atlassian ecosystem.

Without further ado, let’s return to the beginning…

Once upon a time……

In 2005, three very smart and motivated nerds met up and decided start their very own software development company. The idea was to create enterprise software for clients in a way that was efficient, effective and fun. In order to maintain with that mantra, on day 2 of opening Isos Technology’s doors, we purchased the Atlassian tools to manage our new consulting practice.

Embracing a policy of transparency, we showed our clients how we manage their projects, using Jira to manage tasks and Confluence to gather requirements and work out project plans. In these early days, we gave our clients access to our Jira and Confluence instances (we do NOT advise to do anymore). Our clients started to get used to working within Jira and Confluence and really liked how Isos implemented the applications within our own organization. Inevitably, these clients began asking if we could implement the Atlassian applications within their instances to help improve their team functionality. Over the course of the next 3 years, these requests to implement Atlassian among our customers became a chorus. Atlassian related work was taking up over 50% of our billable time! As a time and materials organization, this became a massive time commitment for our technical team. Given the popularity in our own little world, we decided to become an Atlassian recognized Solutions Partner. In 2008, Isos Technology started officially offering Atlassian Consulting Services. Since 2008, we have achieved much within the Atlassian ecosystem. We have received the following accolades: 

  • 2013: Atlassian Enterprise Badge
  • 2014: Atlassian Platinum Badge
  • 2016: First Atlassian Solutions Partner added to the Atlassian Partner Training program
  • 2017: Atlassian Jira Service Desk Partner of the Year
  • 2018: Over 48 combined certifications and accreditations – with more coming every month

Our journey with Atlassian has been organic, marked by steady growth. Bringing in the tools early truly changed how we work and collaborate. The sales team at Isos Technology (where yours truly resides) uses a Jira Software project to manage all of our leads and their lifecycles. So as you can imagine, over the last 13 (almost 14) years, we have truly grown up with the tools, labored with them and for them, and found where they really win and how to successfully get clients on the right path with Atlassian. Our expertise and opinions have truly been vetted through trial and error since the beginning of our journey, granting us an understanding of what processes teams wish to imbed in the applications over the years.
