Opsgenie Integrations are an Incident Manager's Best Friend

Atlassian Tools, Opsgenie

Opsgenie—a proven, powerful tool that specifically targets incident management—is now available as part of Jira Service Management (JSM) or as a standalone. Opsgenie is a very important component in keeping both your Atlassian and third-party tools up and running.

You can set up Opsgenie so that the right teams and team members are alerted when an incident occurs, which makes it much more efficient to both triage the incident and respond to it. Opsgenie integrates with a ton of other tools, as well, making it even more powerful.

Next, I'll go over a few things you need to know about Opsgenie integrations.

Integrations - Setup

Opsgenie can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud, and it has evolved to support many different Atlassian and third-party tools, such as Jira, Jira Service Management (formerly Jira Service Desk), Monitis, Prometheus, Slack, etc. With the help of integrations, Opsgenie can alert other systems when an important incident happens.

To access the full integration list in OpsGenie go to Settings > Integrations > Integration List as shown below. An integration can also be configured for a specific team via Teams > Select a team > Integrations.

Next, I'll go over how to set up the Opsgenie + Slack integration and introduce you to Edge Connector, a useful tool for integrating with systems that aren't available on the public internet.

Opsgenie + Slack Integration

If your team uses Slack as part of your incident management process, there's no need to switch from one app to another. The Opsgenie + Slack integration enables your users to acknowledge or close alerts right from within your team's Slack channel.

  1. To set up your Slack integration, you must first add Slack via the integration list, or if it's for a specific team, you can add it through the team's settings page.
  2. Once Slack is added, select whether you want the alerts to be assigned to a specific Opsgenie team or leave the alert unassigned.
  3. Next, select the channel you wish to display the Opsgenie alerts to, along with the actions you want to allow the team to perform via Slack, such as "Take Ownership," "UnAcknowledge," and "Add Responder."

OpsGenie + Edge Connector Integration

Edge Connector is a lightweight, edge app that lets you securely integrate to systems that are not accessible from the public internet. Together with Opsgenie, it is able to run executables, such as Groovy, Python, shell scripts, and so much more.
