In my role at Isos Technology, I often have the opportunity to talk with both new and established clients. As I listen to their needs, I think to myself, "How can I help them get their team up to speed faster?" or "How can I help them close their skill gaps?" For many customers, the answer is classes!

In this blog post, I'm going to recommend some great courses that work well for teams and are appropriate for all skill levels and applications.

Atlassian University: Jira Essentials

This course should be offered as a training opportunity for all new Jira users.

When should we plan for it? Typically, this class should be offered early on in a new Jira implementation. We recommend booking this class about 2+ weeks into the process.

Goal: The goal of this training is to establish a base knowledge of Jira Software as quickly as possible. It provides attendees with the terminology and know-how to get started, and will save time in the long run.

Atlassian University: Confluence Essentials

Any teams that are going to use Confluence, especially those interested in knowledge bases, should consider this course. This is an essentials course and is a great beginning point for anyone interested in learning how to use the product efficiently.

When should we plan for it? This class should be taken early on in a Confluence implementation. We recommend booking this class about 2+ weeks into the process.

Goal: Again, as an essentials class, this training provides a foundation that can be built upon and delivers long-term value for the team.

Atlassian University: Managing Jira Service Projects

If you have a Jira Service Management (JSM) implementation or a team looking to learn more about JSM, this course is AWESOME! It does require some basic  knowledge, but it is still very user-friendly. If you're interested in taking both Jira Essentials and Managing Jira Service Projects, do the essentials course first for the foundation.

When should we plan for it? We recommend booking this class 3+ weeks after training roll out, so users have time to take essentials courses prior to this one if needed.

Goal: This course is intended to get JSM users comfortable in their own space. The labs are lengthy and involved, which is great for getting hands-on experience.

Atlassian University: Jira and Confluence Together

This is a great class that will help you get an understanding of the integration between the products. The class takes you through using Jira and Confluence together, and is great for any team planning on doing so.

When should we plan for it?: We always recommend essentials first. We recommend booking this class 3+ weeks into training.

Goal: The goal of this class is to learn how to comfortably use the tools together, and to encourage tool integration.

Key Advantage of These Courses

All four of these training courses are conducted in a hands-on lab environment with no risk involved. This means that attendees get to experiment in a safe space where they can't make changes to a live instance, and gain experience and confidence in using the tools. A win-win situation!

Thanks for reading the first blog post in my Training Made Easy series! I hope you found it helpful. If you have any training questions or are just interested in learning more about how it all works, please feel free reach out to me. I'd be happy to chat!
